    What You’ll Do

    • Greet customers and create a welcoming, memorable experience for locals and tourists alike

    • Provide deli-style counter service, including portioning, wrapping, and serving fresh and smoked fish, jerky, and other specialty items

    • Share product knowledge, offer samples, and help guests discover smoked fish and locally made specialty foods

    • Ring up purchases and keep the market running smoothly

    • Maintain clean, well-stocked, and inviting displays

    • Help bring the fun, friendly spirit of Big Andy’s to life (our Bigfoot logo sets the tone)

    Big Andy’s Market is a seasonally operated specialty market selling fresh & smoked fish, meats & jerky, snacks and dips, and locally sourced pantry staples. This summer, we’ll start our dinner service, and we’re building a thoughtful, high-quality program rooted in our market, our region, and our customers.

    Position Overview
    We are seeking a skilled, collaborative Chef / Smoker to help build and lead our food service program. This role focuses on counter-service deli offerings, grab-and-go items, seasonal fish dinners, and smoked fish. This is a foundational role with real influence. Hours are flexible for the right candidate, and the position can grow as the program develops.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate on the development and execution of:

      • Grab-and-go deli items

      • Fried fish dinners

      • Smoked fish

    • Operate and manage smoking processes

    • Help design menus, prep systems, and workflows appropriate for a market setting

    • Develop, test, and refine recipes with a focus on consistency and efficiency

    • Ensure high standards for flavor, presentation, and freshness

    • Establish and maintain food safety, sanitation, and HACCP practices

    • Oversee proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of all food items

    • Coordinate prep schedules to meet daily and seasonal demand

    • Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and assist with ordering

    • Train and support staff in prep, smoking techniques, and cleanliness

    • Maintain smokers, kitchen equipment, and workspaces in excellent condition

    • Collaborate with ownership on seasonal offerings, specials, and program growth

    Qualifications

    • Professional experience as a chef, prepared foods lead, smoker, or similar role

    • Experience working with fish and seafood strongly preferred

    • Comfort building systems in a new or growing food program

    • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation

    • Organized, dependable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively

    • Physically able to stand for long periods and work in hot/cold environments

This role is focused on building local awareness, driving foot traffic to physical locations, and growing an engaged digital community year-round.

    This position is highly flexible: hybrid remote work and part-time arrangements are both possibilities to reflect the seasonal nature of the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create and publish original, on-brand content for Instagram and Facebook across multiple businesses

    • Plan and execute seasonal marketing strategies that align with tourism cycles and local events

    • Respond to social media messages, comments, reviews, and customer questions in a timely, professional manner

    • Collaborate on website updates, design improvements, and content optimization to increase user engagement and conversions

    • Support website engagement initiatives such as promotions, event highlights, email sign-ups, and calls-to-action

    • Design and coordinate printed marketing materials including in-store signage, menus, flyers, and promotional pieces
